今天在 FB 看到这个 - 我的“神童”学生许文耀 Nathanael Koh 10 岁左右时的作品 - 《马戏团组曲》The Circus suite 视频。

这原本是 2020 年 “传承” IMPRINT - 潘耀田师生网上音乐会里头的一首双簧管 oboe 与钢琴二重奏，如今双簧管部分移植给高音萨克管 soprano saxophone，并由留学芬兰的本地出色萨克管演奏家 Samuel Phua 演奏，也另有一番风味。

这首充满纯真童稚风格清新的小组曲共包含了6个乐章 ：前奏，猫，小丑，高空秋千，大象以及尾声 Prologue, Cats, Clowns, Trapeze, Elephants, and Finale。

The Circus Suite came about after I developed a short, fun piece of music for clowns (composed for oboe and piano). Subsequently, I decided to extend the piece, in 2019, to include various acts to encompass more circus acts, to form a short story.

The oboe in this piece plays a duet with the pianist to create a grand prologue and five different miniature movements. The order of the movements are Prologue, Cats, Clowns, Trapeze, Elephants, and Finale. Each movement has its own unique style to represent the different acts.

The oboe version was premiered by Joost. C Flach in 2020 and was subsequently revised for soprano saxophone and piano for Samuel Phua in 2021.
